Busy weekend equals big profits for local businesses

Posted: Updated:

It was a busy holiday weekend for Northern Nevada. UNR was home to the big game against UNLV, Carson City hosted the Nevada Day Parade and Reno's Zombie Crawl all happened on Saturday.

The weekend events were good for business and Mother Nature leant a helping hand as well.  The warm weather kept most people out and about longer than usual.
Heather West is the General Manager at The Firkin and Fox Restaurant located right in the middle of the parade route.  She says they saw a huge increase in their sales yesterday
"We probably doubled or tripled our normal numbers, " said West " Because there was so many people out and everyone's eating and drinking  and having a good time"
Other shops in the middle of downtown Carson told us there was a huger jump in business yesterday, especially during the parade.

Back in Reno, it was the Wolf Pack game that had things hoppin' at Archie's across from the UNR campus.

"Saturday nights do get very busy, but the game and everybody coming up from Vegas…" said Archie food runner Kristen McCormack "It was a lot busier than a normal Saturday night"
Whether they came for the food, the drinks or to watch the game, customers definitely spent their money there.  Wait staff at Archie's told us they think they earned double their usual tips.
