KOVR: 4 Officers Hurt in Roseville, California

Posted: Updated:

CBS affiliate KOVR is reporting that four officers have been hurt in Roseville, California. It happened after a confrontation during a joint investigation by federal immigration agents and local police.
Dozens of officers were involved in a hunt for the suspect, identified as Sammy Duran.

The shooting occurred Friday afternoon in Roseville, a suburb about 20 miles northeast of the state capital.

KOVR reports two of the officers were hit by shrapnel.
Sutter Roseville Medical Center spokeswoman Robin Montgomery confirmed that two officers had been brought to her facility. She said their conditions were "undetermined" and referred calls to Roseville police for further information.
In a statement, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice said one officer from that agency was among those wounded. She said he was stable and alert after being taken to the hospital.
The ICE agent was involved in some kind of joint law enforcement action with investigators from the Roseville Police Department.
No other details about what might have prompted the shooting were available.
Roseville police requested help for an officer-involved shooting shortly after 3 p.m., Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman said. That prompted a response from multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the capital region.  (AP)
