The City of Reno is starting a new tradition with a permanent live holiday tree.
On Wednesday afternoon, Reno Park's, Recreation and Community Service Staff planted a live, 23-foot tall giant sequoia tree on the turf area at City Plaza, located at 10 North Virginia Street across from the Reno City Hall.
The sequoia came from a former wood mill in Camino, California.
The City's annual Holiday Tree Lighting Event will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 5pm. The event will feature the Billinghurst Middle School Choir - and the Rink on the River will officially open for the 2013-2014 ice skating season.
