Sparks Middle School Student Recounts Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Faith Evans is a seventh grader at Sparks Middle School and she was there when the shooting started early Monday morning.

"I didn't hear the shooter say anything at all, he just started shooting. He shot my friend in the arm and then another student and a teacher who stepped in. I ran and I could hear that he just kept shooting," Evans said from her home.

Her mother was still shaking hours after she'd found her daughter.

"I was on my way to school myself when my daughter called and said there was a shooting at school and I told her I was on my way and I'd be there." Terra Robinson said. "When I got there, there were cops and the police and the sheriff's and barricades and just no way to get to the school. We had to go around and I was just so happy to see her and see she was okay," Robinson said.

Faith says she didn't know the shooter very well but that she knew of him.

"He doesn't like to do homework much, he talks back to the teachers and he did cause some trouble in the classes but I didn't really know him," she said.

They continue to watch the story unfold through Facebook, texting and news coverage.

"She was watching Channel 2 when we got home this morning," Terra said of her daughter. "And they said if parents and kids, call us and tell us what you saw. She Googled the number and she called," Terra said.

And they two have been watching the story unfold ever since.
