There is a Spooktacular at Meadowood Mall in Reno, a Pumpkin Palooza in Sparks, a Five Acre Corn Maze in Winnemucca and a notable concert on the UNR campus and a Governor's Ball in Virginia City.  Enjoy!

Friends of Carson City Library Book Sale 10am-5pm at the library

The Carson City Library is holding its annual fall book sale this weekend and you're invited. They have a holiday book section cassettes and lots of other books from which to choose. It runs from 10am-5pm on Friday at 900 North Roop Street.

Corn Maze, Lazy P Adventure Farm, Winnemucca

Celebrate fall at Lazy P Adventure Farm in Winnemucca. There'll be cow train rides, several corn mazes, hay rides, a bounce house and tractor-pulled hay rides. Located at 8280 Grass Valley Road. Call 775-625-1194. It's open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October.

Reno Ham Swap, Tamarack Junction, 7am

The Sierra Nevada Amateur Radio Society sponsors the Reno Ham Swap at the Tamarack Junction parking lot, 13101 South Virginia Street at 7am. The swap is open to the public. There will be raffle prizes and you can take your ham radio exam at 9am for a $15 fee. Proceeds benefit the SNARS Repeater Fund.

The Reno Chamber Orchestra is bringing violin prodigy Caroline Goulding here for two concerts at Nightingale Hall on the UNR Campus this weekend. Saturday's concert is at 7:30 p.m.

Halloween Spooktacular, Meadowood Mall, 11am

Constumed kids and parents can experience the spooky spirit of the fall season with Simon Kidgit's annual Halloween Spooktacular. The event will include a haunted house, games and goodies. Just head to Center Court at 11am.

 

Governor's Ball, Piper's Opera House Virginia City 7pm-11pm

As part of the annual celebration of statehood, the annual Governor's Ball will be held at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City from 7-11 p.m. Period dress is encouraged.

Discover Museum's Social Science

It's a night for the parents to enjoy with social science and discovery at The Discovery Museum in downtown Reno. There will be demonstrations and libations and it's a fun night to leave the little ones at home.

Harvest Festival, Nevada Sage Waldorf School, 10am

The Nevada Sage Waldorf School is holding a harvest festival. There'll be seasonal stories, activities, and treasures for children of all ages. Admission is $5 per family. Also, bring a bag or basket for your child to collect treasures. No costumes. The fun starts at 10am at 953 West Peckham Lane in Reno.

Black & White Ball of Northern Nevada, Silver Legacy, 6pm

An all-volunteer event, Black & White Ball donates 100% of its proceeds to regional HIV/AIDS support services. This year it will be held inside Silver Legacy's ballroom. Cocktails are at 6pm with dinner at 7pm. Tickets are $75 and can purchased at www.BlackAndWhiteBallNV.org

 

Walk the Style Mile, The Summit, 3pm

Reno-Sparks NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet, Atlantis Casino, 6pm 

Reno-Sparks NAACP is holding a banquet Saturday at 6pm inside the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. Tickets are $65; $40 for people 20 and under, and non-member tickets cost $95. Doors open at 5:30pm. Event ends at 11pm.

Northern Nevada Crop Walk, Idlewild Park, 1:30pm

This the 22nd year for the Crop Walk organized by local faith groups to raise awareness of hunger and money to help stamp it out. Idlewild Park in Reno. Registration is at 1:30 and the walk starts at 2 pm. 25% of donations will be used by the Kids Cafe Program of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Ridge House, and the Community Food Pantry.
