A week from Thursday, the year-long celebration of Nevada's 150th birthday will kick off with the third annual Governor's Banquet in Reno.
"This event is the pinnacle event of celebrating Nevada's history. We're one of the very few states in the nation that even acknowledges their statehood and the anniversary, Nevada's very proud of who we are and what we're about," says banquet director Rich Crombie.
The governor's banquet kicks off the beginning of the Nevada Day weekend - and this year the event will benefit the Children's Cabinet.
Both Governor Brian Sandoval and Nevada First Lady Kathleen Sandoval will be there and speak.
The event will also include an auction where you can bid on items like a tennis racket signed by Andre Agassi or a guitar autographed by the Rolling Stones.
This year's banquet will be next Thursday at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.
Doors open at 6pm with the banquet at 7.
Tickets are $50 for individuals or $450 for a table of 10. Go to
