According to a survey of 1,100 Nevada gas stations, prices are on the way down - and that's good news for people taking to the road for the fall break this week.

According to -- the average price in Nevada right now is $3.45 per gallon. That's down 7.4 cents since last month - and down about 50 cents since this time last year.

People we spoke to filling up around town say they're definitely happy to see it, but that prices could always be lower.

"I think that's wonderful, but it's still not enough," says Robert Lopez of Reno.

Connie Thomsen adds, "It's terrific... Still could be lower, but..."

"I'm very happy about gas prices being lower. Every little bit helps these days with the great recession we're in," says Jeff Granata of Reno.

Whether they drive a lot or a little, most of the people we spoke to say every little bit helps when it comes to gas prices.

With budgets tight, even a few bucks saved at the pump frees up money for other things.

"If I save on gas...I buy more food."

"It's absolutely a change, because I drive for a living. When you drive for a living, gas prices are important," says Kent McCall of Reno.

Analysts say because of the government shutdown, this could be the last set of reliable data that we got on gas prices for a while.
