Police Searching For Burglar Following High-Speed Chase

Posted: Updated:

The Sparks Police department is searching for the man who they believe stole several firearms from a home before leading police on a chase in a stolen truck.

It all started Thursday evening, according to SPD, when they got a call about a residential burglary. They say the suspects ransacked the home and took several firearms and one of the victim's truck.

Police say the vehicle is a gray, 2000 GMC step-side pickup with Nevada license plates 728-VEE and was stolen by a Hispanic man, in his late 20's or early 30's with short, dark hair.

They say a short while after the burglary, an officer spotted the driver. After making direct eye-contact, when he sped away, leading police on a chase through Reno and Sparks. Then, they say he got onto eastbound I-80 towards Fernley. Once he got into the city there, officers decided to end the pursuit.

So they are asking for you to keep an eye out for that truck, or the driver. If you have any information, you're asked to call Sparks Police at 353-2231 or Secret Witness at 322-4900. You can also text your tip to 847-411, keyword 'SW'. A $1,000 reward is being offered.
