There is a thrilling weekend on tap in Northern Nevada. Haunted houses are open for business, families have cleaned out their garages and basements to be a part of the biggest kid and maternity sale in the area, and there will be Zombies galore running in teams through Virginia City's tunnels, graveyards and bars. Enjoy!

 

Friday 10/11

Just Between Friends Annual Sale, Livestock Events Center, 9am-6pm

This is billed as the biggest kid and maternity sale in the area. You can sell things on consignment or just browse for the deals.

Slaughterhouse, 210 North Sierra Street  

This haunted house has been a hit for years and it's on the move. No longer is it at Meadowood Mall. Now you'll find the Slaughterhouse underground at Second and Sierra in Reno. The proceeds still go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Frightmare Downtown Sparks

This haunted house has moved too. No longer will you find your Frightmare at Legends, but they are moving to Victorian Square instead. A portion of the proceeds from this go to the Nevada Diabetes Association.

Saturday 10/12

Chalk the Block, University of Nevada, 8am-4pm

UNR's Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is putting on a colorful event at UNR this weekend and you are invited to bring your creativity and take part. It's called Chalk the Block and will include a chalk-art competition, music, vendors and art workshops. It's located at the Joe Crowley Student Union.

Tiger Dash Safe Haven, 11am-5pm at Safe Haven in Imlay

This is the second annual Tiger Dash, at Safe Haven. It's a fundraiser but it's also your chance to see the wild tigers and lions at home near Imlay, and a chance to help raise money to help keep them there. It also involves lunch and a tour of the fabulous facility.

The Eldorado's 32nd Annual Italian Festival, Downtown Reno, 10am-6pm

The Eldorado knows how to do Italian right! They have a sauce-cooking contest, entertainers on stilts, bocce ball, wine and a grape stomp. It's all in downtown Reno all weekend long.

Gotta love that description! And it's all things Zombie…all day long. There will be team races, through tunnels and mud and graveyards. And Channel 2's team is "2 the Grave!"

Great Pumpkin Walk, Wilbur D. May Museum, 6-8 pm

See the botanical gardens decked out for fall and lined with pumpkins. Take the little ones on the tour and collect candy. It's all at the May Museum from 6-8 p.m.

Nevada State Railway Museum, Ely, 10am-4pm

They will be steaming up locomotive number 125 for the weekend and you are invited. The fun and the train run from 10-4.
