University of Nevada President Marc Johnson laid out his vision Wednesday for the current academic school year and he said the future looks bright.
"We're at a higher ranking in US News and World Report tier one level, our number of students on campus is growing, our graduation rate is growing, our number of graduates is growing, so all the metrics of performance are continuing to rise."
In his speech, Johnson said the university has weathered budget cuts in recent years and now needs to focus continuing its upward trajectory.
He wants Nevada to have a university on par with those in surrounding states he says growth is the way to accomplish that.
He cautions the university must be careful with how it spends money because of continued cuts from state funding.
However, he hopes that funding will increase in the near future.
