A man wanted in connection with two Lake Tahoe bank robberies was arrested in Reno Monday.

Detectives from the Placer County Sheriff's Office, along with Washoe County deputies and the FBI arrested 49-year-old James Harnett at the Reno Transit Center around 5pm Monday.

Deputies say Harnett was considered armed and dangerous, as well as a flight risk. They say they received information that Harnett was in the downtown Reno area and a warrant for his arrest had been issued.

A Washoe County detective originally made contact with Harnett while he tried to make a call from a payphone inside the transit center. Harnett was taken into custody without incident.

They say Harnett is suspected of robbing the Bank of the West in Kings Beach on August 23rd as well as robbing the Eldorado Savings Bank two days earlier in South Lake Tahoe.

Harnett is currently in the Washoe County Jail awaiting extradition on a $100,000 arrest warrant.
