Authorities: Man Poses as Alpine Deputy, Beats Woman

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are looking for a man who they say posed as a law enforcement officer and then beat up a woman.

Deputies in Alpine County, California say at around 9pm Monday a woman was driving on State Route 88 in the area of Woodfords Junction.

The woman reported seeing a white truck sitting in the same area. She says the truck followed her and then she saw a red flashing light coming from the truck. Thinking it was law enforcement trying to make a traffic stop she pulled over.

Deputies say that is when a man in a dark jacket walked up to the door displaying a badge. They say he asked for her information and then instructed her to get out of her car.

Once she was out, they say he forced her to the ground.

After a brief fight with the man deputies say she was able to get away.

Deputies describe the man as white, between 40 to 50 years old, having a stocky build, about 6'2", weighing 225 pounds, with dark hair and a bushy mustache.

Deputies say the man could have sustained injuries during the fight.

They think he was driving a newer full size white diesel truck and it may have had aftermarket rims.

If you know anything about this you are being asked to call the Alpine County Sheriff's Office at 530-694-2231.
