This weekend's events will showcase everything from pancakes to outhouses. Seriously. You can see a huge selection of Scarecrows, see the fastest quick draw in the west, see vampires dressed in Hollywood style get a deal on fall cleaning and a chance to welcome home the greatest generation in style. Phew! That's a lot of Things 2 Do! Enjoy!  

 

Friday 10/4 

Jessie Beck Scarecrow Contest, 1900 Sharon Way, 3-6 pm

This is the 32nd year for this autumn event. The kids at Jessie Beck Elementary School in west Reno work on scarecrows when school starts. And they make them part of the display for their fall festival.

Sparks Fire Dept. pancake open house,1605 Victorian Avenue 8am-noon

This is a great chance to fill up on flapjacks, let your kids climb on the fire trucks and learn about fire safety at home. It's at the Sparks Fire Department on Victorian Avenue.

Reno Celtic Celebration, Bartley Ranch, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road

The Reno Celtic Festival is at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park again this year. It's a two-day festival with Irish and Scottish music, dancing and sporting events. Oh and lots of kilts too!

They will have 19 brewers tapping kegs and filling beer mugs! It's all at Wingfield Park in Reno from 3pm-7pm Saturday. Cheers!

Residential Dump Days Waste Management Transfer Stations

Waste Management tries to give us all a break on clearing out the closets and the garage every quarter. And this weekend is it. That's right they'll take appliances, furniture and other solid waste for free. And things that fall outside the acceptable parameters are all half price. They really want us to clean up! All Reno Transfer stations in Reno are taking part.

International Outhouse Races, Virginia City, noon 

They are at it again in Virginia City. This weekend it's the International Outhouse Races through town. The competition is for both the speed and the themed decorations. A parade will be held at noon with the competition starting at 1pm.

Race for the Cure 9 am, Grand Sierra Resort GSR, Reno

The official Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is Sunday at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno and thousands will take part in helping raise money for research and in showing support for those who live with breast cancer directly and indirectly here in Northern Nevada. Oh, and our own Wendy Damonte will be there emceeing.

Honor Flight homecoming, 5:30pm, International Reno-Tahoe Airport

Shhhhhh! It's a surprise homecoming to honor the Greatest Generation. World War II veterans from all branches of the service and from all over Northern Nevada will return Sunday about 6pm. Organziers ask that you be there about 5:30.
