Officials Brace for Problems For Health Link Debut

Posted: Updated:

State officials are bracing for problems and hoping for the best as Nevada's online insurance exchange goes live.

Nevada Health Link debuts Tuesday, as do other insurance exchanges around the country.

About 22 percent, or 617,000 Nevadans, lack health insurance.

The exchanges are part of President Barack Obama's signature health reform law designed to make everyone have health coverage by 2014.

The people in charge of Nevada's exchange know there will be problems initially. But they hope to work out the bugs in the early days, way before a mid-December deadline for coverage to commence Jan. 1.

Enrollment will continue through mid-March.
