Couple Arrested for Elder Abuse and Exploitation

Posted: Updated:

Police report that a local couple has been placed under arrest for the abuse and exploitation of two elderly victims that they were supposed to be caring for.

Police say that Russell Henderson was working driving a commercial taxicab designed to support the disabled, and over years of driving, befriended a 64-year-old disabled man and an 85-year-old woman, and invited them to live with him and his wife, Dalaiah Johnson.

Police began investigating after the man was checked into the hospital with severe medical complications from the lack of appropriate care. They then found that Henderson had been accessing both victim's bank accounts and stealing large amounts of money for his own personal use.

The male victim was taken to a proper care facility and his health has improved dramatically.

Henderson has been placed under arrest and charged with neglect of an elderly person, two counts of elder exploitation, and two counts of theft. Johnson has also been charged with one count of neglect of an elderly person.
