Yet another nice weekend on tap and there are plenty of ways to fill it from the National Championship Air Races to the seniors on stage in Carson City. There is Giant Secret Music Festival in Reno and runs to bring awareness to everything from ALS to Organ Donors. Plus, don't miss the Pirate Crawl Saturday night. AARRRGG!

Friday 9/13

'Together We Can Solve Hunger Concert,' Hawkins Amphitheater 6:15 p.m.

This concert brings in names like the California Honeydrops and the band Strange on the Range. And proceeds go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Doors open at 5:30 and the concert starts at 6:15.

8th Annual Whittemore Peterson Dinner, Atlantis Casino 6 pm

This is an annual dinner to help fund research at the Whittemore Peterson Institute focused on neurological diseases. It's at the Atlantis this year and dinner is at 6.

Senior Follies Show Carson City Community Center, 7 pm

The Carson Community Center is the place to be for the whirlwind show. "Around the World in 80 minutes!" put on by the seniors in Carson City. Curtain goes up at 7 pm.

Air Races, Reno-Stead Airport 8 a.m. – 4 pm everyday

The 50th year for competition at the Reno-Stead Airport is already flying high and they have specialized events for the different classes every day. Check their website for details.

Indie Music Festival to benefit WARC  Wingfield Park 10 am -10 pm

It's being called the Giant Secret Music Festival and it's at Wingfield Park in Reno from 10-10 this Saturday. It features locals including Whitney Myer and the Mark Sexton Band. And the proceeds go to fund the Washoe Ability Resource Center.

Free Kids Fishing Day, Carson City, 8am

The Carson City Host Lions Club is holding The Tom Brooks Memorial Kids Fishing Day at Baily Fishing Pond next to Fuji Park. It starts at 8am.

 

UNR's Ag School's Field Day, 9am-2pm, East McCarran and Mill Street

Put on by the College of Agriculture, Biotech and Natural Resources it takes place at the UNR Main Station Field on Clean Water Way. Starts at 9am - 2pm. It's a chance to see the latest research and talk with the experts.

Diabetes Awareness 11-3 pm Sam's Club Free Diabetes Clinic

Sam's Clubs nationwide are offering this event. It's a free diabetes clinic where you can get your blood tested and get information on supplies and on diet tips to stay healthy. It's Sam's Club's way of giving back. And clinics will be set up at all Sam's Club locations.

Iron Nation's 9-11 Never Forget Motorcycle Run in Carson City

They are moving locations but their message and their mission is the same…Never Forget. Every year the Iron Nation Motorcycle Club make the 9/11 run drawing attention with their Harleys and raising money for the families of veterans and the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. This year they'll ride through downtown Carson City.

It's an annual 'Walk-n-Roll' to help raise money and awareness of ALS. It's $20 to enter.

They will have celebrity chef Ryan Scott on hand to turn their fresh food into dinner this year. It's all in Fallon this Saturday at Oats Park. Produce and workshops start at 11 am; dinner is set for 5.

Pirate Crawl: 8 pm Harrah's Plaza

Eye patches, hand-hooks and mugs for your grogg. It's time for the annual pirate pub crawl in downtown Reno. You can pick up cups and treasure maps at Junkee Clothing Exchange and join in the fun. The actual crawling starts at 8 p.m. at Harrah's Plaza downtown. Aarrgg!
