Gardnerville Store Showcases 'Made in Nevada' Products

Posted: Updated:

Small entrepreneurs are banding together and making a big splash in the Carson Valley with the Nevada Unique Store.

"Not everyone here is an official member of the Made in Nevada group, but everything here is actually made here in Nevada," says Larry Rice who owns the store. "I actually wanted to find a place to sell my BBQ sauces and the rubs I've developed as a caterer and then I invited other merchants to showcase their things here too. We have art and food and all kinds of crafts all made here in the Silver State."

Rice says he sees 8-10 people strolling through the store every day they are open. And he says not everyone buys but everyone is interested and sees what's available.

"I'd never tell people not to shop at the box stores," Rice says. "But small business is important to the economy and small businesses are vital to every community."

The Nevada Unique Store is located on Highway 395 in Gardnerville and for now it's open 11am-5pm Wednesdays through Saturdays. And they already have plans of expanding  with the Sierra Gourmet Grill and Wine Bar this November.
