RTC Holds Open House on Virginia Street Corridor

Posted: Updated:

From the Regional Transportation Commission:

The Regional Transportation Commission, in partnership with the City of Reno and UNR, is seeking public participation and input to help shape the vision of Virginia Street. The RTC will host an Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 10th at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum from 5 pm to 7 pm for the Virginia Street Corridor Study.

This is an opportunity for the public to share their ideas and concerns about potential transportation improvements on Virginia Street from North McCarran Boulevard to the Mt. Rose Highway.  The purpose of the study is to conduct a multimodal analysis for pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and automobile improvements. It will also look at improvement opportunities with regard to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). When completed, the plan will identify short and long term improvements and develop a funding and implementation strategy.

The public is invited to stop by anytime and meet with the project team to learn about the study and offer comments. Especially if you commute by car, bike or foot; own a business, work or live on Virginia Street. Public participation is essential to conduct the study. Future transportation improvements on Virginia Street can also support economic development efforts within the corridor.
