Gov. Brian Sandoval and Nevada Superintendent Dale Erquiaga toured two Reno elementary schools on Friday.
Washoe County Superintendent Pedro Martinez also participated in the tours of Anderson and Corbett elementary schools, which have both been designated as "zoom schools" by the Washoe County School District.
Zoom schools are part of a state pilot program to increase funding and improve the academic performance of student who are English language learners.
The state budget earmarked $50 million statewide toward the effort to add prekindergarten, full-day kindergarten and smaller class sizes at elementary schools with high numbers of student who don't speak English as a first language. (AP)
