Fire Restrictions Lifted in Northeast Nevada

Posted: Updated:

Fire restrictions in northeast Nevada are being lifted, thanks to some recent rain and cooler temperatures.

The Northeast Nevada Interagency Fire Management Team announced the restrictions will expire Friday.

The order pertains to the Jarbidge, Mountain City and Ruby Mountain ranger districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, as well as lands in northeast Nevada administered by the Bureau of Land Management, state Division of Forestry, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The region has received significant rainfall in the past week and temperatures have cooled, reducing the risk of wildfires.

But officials say the area is still in a drought and urge people to use caution when using public lands.

They advise clearing 10-feet around campfires and making sure campfires are completely extinguished before leaving.
