Unemployment Claims Center Still Having Issues

Posted: Updated:

Nevada's unemployment claims center says some people still may have problems contacting the agency. Phones are being flooded with calls.

The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says they received about 2,500 calls an hour on Wednesday.

The department says people should keep trying to call in at 775-684-0350 and eventually they will be able to get through.

DETR has added two additional phone numbers for weekly claim filing. If claimants are unable to get  through our main numbers, 775-684-0350 and 702-486-0350, please try 775-684-3387 or 702-486-3387.

The web portal portion should be working on Friday. To get there, just click here.

The department upgraded its new unemployment insurance system late last month and is currently launching it in stages.

"We are being very conservative in the launch of the new system as several steps are necessary to ensure proper processing of benefit payments to our customers," said DETR Director Frank Woodbeck. "We ask that our customers be patient with us as this is the culmination of a nearly four-year process. Once completely up and running, this new system will yield many positive results for our customers, and security for our unemployment compensation program. Considering the magnitude of this undertaking, the transition has proceeded with minimal issues. We just ask for patience as we gradually ramp up the new system to full deployment over the coming days."
