From the Washoe County School District:
A national organization has recognized the Washoe County School District (WCSD) for fiscal responsibility during tight financial times. This is the sixteenth time the National Procurement Institute has honored the District with its Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award.
"Our procurement team sets the bar very high and the receipt of the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award is continued validation of this high standard," said Tom Ciesynski, WCSD Chief Financial Officer. "The team strives each day to work with our schools and departments to get them the supplies, services, and equipment they need at the best prices possible. By doing so, the team is meeting the strategic initiatives of the organization as well as the expectation of the taxpayers in our community."
WCSD was one of only six government agencies in Nevada and one of just 23 school districts nationwide to be honored with the AEP award this year. The District received a score in the top 20 percent of all AEP scores for 2013.
The AEP award recognizes organizations excellence in procurement. Public and non-profit organizations earn the award by obtaining a high score in a number of standardized criteria including innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership attributes in procurement.
"I'm very proud of our team that works hard every day to make a positive impact on student learning," said Andrea Sullivan, purchasing supervisor for WCSD. "This award demonstrates to our community that the Purchasing Department is engaging in best practices in public procurement while also being good stewards of taxpayer money. I couldn't be prouder of our accomplishments."
