"Dishrags to Dirtbags"

Posted: Updated:

A Washoe County Deputy Sheriff is now a published author. Brooke Santina recently launched a fictional novel called "Dishrags to Dirtbags" - inspired by her career at the jail. It is about a housewife - turned deputy - who experiences some humorous and  frightening scenarios while working with inmates behind bars.

Although the book is fiction, Brooke says events that she experienced over the past decade inspired this 200+ page novel. "I've worked in the jail for 11 years now, so I started writing some things down and eventually I had a list of stories and thought, 'I wonder if I could make a book out of this?' and then I fictionalized everything."

You can find "Dishrags to Dirtbags" at Sierra Style on Vista Boulevard in Sparks or Sundance Books on California Avenue in Reno. You can also find it as an e-book online via Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Brooke will read an excerpt and sign books at Sundance Books on Wednesday, September 4th from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The event is open to the public.
