Parking Restrictions During Reno Balloon Race

Posted: Updated:

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is reminding drivers that there will be parking restrictions along McCarran Boulevard during this year's Great Reno Balloon Race at Rancho San Rafael park.

The restriction runs from Saturday, August 31st through Sunday, September 8th. During that time, no parking will be allowed along McCarran Boulevard between North Virginia Street and Keystone Avenue. The Balloon Race itself starts September 6th and goes through the 8th.

Deputies say that the temporary parking restriction is intended to increase public safety, by stopping cars from parking alongside the heavily used roadway. They say they will be patrolling along the road to enforce the restriction.

Officials are also asking drivers to be cautious during the balloon race, and reminding them to stay focused on the road, and not the balloons.
