$6 Million Headed for Nevada's Rural Airports

The U.S. Department of Transportation is giving ten grants totaling nearly $6 million to Nevada's rural airports.

Nevada Senator Harry Reid make the announcement Tuesday.

In a statement Reid said, "This money will allow the various airports throughout our state to upgrade facilities and make numerous improvements to their runways, parking aprons, and other airfield safety equipment."

Here's a breakdown of the funding:

  • Reno/Stead Airport - $637,500
  • Tonopah Airport - $574,549
  • Hawthorne Industrial Airport - $2,715,350
  • Carson Airport - $1,387,500
  • Jackpot/Hayden Field - $75,000
  • Lincoln County Airport - $75,000
  • Winnemucca Municipal Airport - $408,750
