The body of a 17-year-old boy was recovered Saturday after it appears he drowned in Lake Tahoe.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, they responded to a call of a possible drowning in Emerald Bay in south Lake Tahoe just after 3 p.m. Friday. The call came from a family that was spending the day on a boat.

The family says 17-year-old Jabon Lamar Green was swimming about 25 feet from the boat when they lost sight of him. EDSO Dive Team and California Highway Patrol Helicopter H24 searched for the boy through the night.

Just after 9 a.m. Saturday morning, the dive team located to boys body under about 72 feet of water. The family identified him shortly after he was found.

The cause of death is still under investigation, but they believe it was drowning.
