Breastfeeding for more than 6 months may protect against breast cancer in women who are non-smokers. New research from Spain looked at about 500 breast cancer patients and found women who had children and breastfed were diagnosed with breast cancer at a later age. They also found non-smoking women who breastfed their babies for longer than six months were more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer later in life. Women who smoked tended to be diagnosed with breast cancer young and got no benefit from breastfeeding longer.

You've probably heard the terms "left-brained" or "right-brained" to describe certain personality types - left being more logical and right being more creative. But neuroscientists at the University of Utah say that's a pop-culture myth. Researchers analyzed brain scans of more than 1,000 people. They found no evidence that individuals tend to have one side of the brain that is stronger than the other.

Exercise is a common way to battle insomnia, but researchers caution it is not a quick fix. A new study at Northwestern University finds aerobic exercise during the day does not result in improved sleep that same night for people with insomnia. Doctors say regular exercise over an extended period of weeks will eventually help most people sleep better.
