Nevada Highway Patrol troopers have identified the Carson City man critically injured in a hit and run accident on Highway 50 early Saturday morning.

Troopers say they were called to reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle heading east near Lake Parkway in Douglas County just before 3:15am.

Troopers say 31-year-old Cody J. Dobson may have been walking on the highway or stumbled from the adjacent sidewalk just east of the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa prior to being hit.

Investigators say it is possible he was struck by more than one car. One witness who stopped to help Dobson, told investigators that he had been driving in the west lane when he saw the man lying in the eastbound lane, and when he pulled around to help, a blue Dodge pickup hit the downed man.

Troopers say further information indicates the pickup may have a camper shell matching the color of the vehicle as well.

Dobson was taken by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital, then flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by Cal Star. He remains in critical condition.

Troopers say alcohol appears to be involved.

NHP is asking for anyone with any information on this hit and run come forward and report it by calling Trooper Doug Hildebrand at (775) 689-4623 or dhildebrand@dps.state.nv.us. Witnesses can also call the Department of Public Safety Communications Center at 775-687-0400.
