Officials Release Details on Rawson-Neal Upgrades

Posted: Updated:

Nevada officials are releasing details about their $4 million plan to upgrade Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Sun newspaper reports ( ) state health and human services chief Mike Willden shared details Tuesday about a proposal going before the legislative Interim Finance Committee.
Willden says the money would help hire 23 new employees, including psychiatrists, nurses and social workers.
About $350,000 would be used to remodel a building on the Rawson-Neal campus to accommodate 22 beds for long-term patients.
The hospital came under fire this spring after The Sacramento Bee published the story of James Brown, a patient who was discharged to a Greyhound bus to Sacramento, where he knew nobody.
Rawson-Neal lost an independent agency's accreditation last week after deciding not to appeal the organization's demerit.
