Woman Arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Attempts to Flee by Swimming in Marina

Posted: Updated:

One woman has been placed under arrest after attempting to flee charges for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Sparks Police report that just after noon on July 27th, officers were called to Nichols Boulevard after a sighting of a vehicle stolen from Washoe County. When police arrived, they determined that it was the stolen car, and learned that suspect Carol Stotler was nearby at the Sparks Marina.

Officers then found Stotler at the shoreline of the Marina, and attempted to take her into custody. Rather than let herself be arrested, she tried to swim to the center of the marina, while also threatening to kill herself. The Sparks Fire Department Water Rescue Unit was then called, and pulled Stotler from the Marina. She was then taken into custody and booked into Washoe County Jail.

Stotler was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor and felony warrant, and was carrying the keys to the stolen car when she was arrested.
