Posted: Updated:

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) -- South Lake Tahoe police are seeking help in finding an elderly suspect who started to rob a bank then apparently changed his mind before fleeing on a bicycle.

Police say the white man who entered the El Dorado Savings Bank about 3:30 p.m. Thursday appeared to be in his 70s.

He passed a note to a teller demanding money, but soon took off through the front doors and was seen pedaling away on a white or chrome bike with a girl's frame, a large basket on the front and a black bag on the back.

The suspect is about 5-foot-9 with a thin build and short hair under a black baseball cap with white mesh in the back. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt with white socks and black shoes.
