Nevada Requests Info to Manage Virginia Range Horses

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Department of Agriculture wants help from non-profits to create plan for managing wild horses for the Virginia Range southeast of Reno.

They say they want to work with an organization to manage the horses at healthy levels while keeping the public safe.

Horses in the Virginia Range are not federally protected wild horses because they are on state or private land.

Earlier this year, the department agreed to give first dibs on horses gathered from the Virginia Range to a California group to protect them from slaughter.
