William, Kate, Show Off Newborn Royal Baby Boy

Posted: Updated:

A beaming Prince William and his wife, Kate, have shown their newborn baby boy to the world.

Kate carried the future monarch outside St. Mary's Hospital in central London Tuesday so he could be photographed by the waiting press.

Kate told reporters, "It's very emotional. It's such a special time." She said, "I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like."

She then gave the baby to her husband, who said, "He's got her looks, thankfully." He added, "He's a big boy. He's quite heavy." And when he was asked about the baby's hair, he said, "He's got way more than me, thank God."

William said he and his wife are still deciding what to name the baby.

They then re-entered the hospital to place the child in a car seat before re-emerging to get into an SUV. William then drove them away. Palace officials said they were headed to an apartment in Kensington Palace.

Today's much-anticipated appearance outside the hospital recalls a similar event three decades ago. Princess Diana and Prince Charles carried the newborn William out to pose for photographs on the same steps in 1982. (AP)
