South Lake Tahoe Police Investigate Pioneer Trail Homicide

Posted: Updated:

South Lake Tahoe Police are looking for a suspect in a stabbing that left a man dead early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a residential complex on Pioneer Trail around 3:30 a.m. They say a 28-year old man had been stabbed during a fight. Family members took him to Barton Memorial Hospital before police arrived. He later died at the hospital. His name has not been released, though police say he was a South Lake Tahoe resident.

Police are working to determine what happened in the moments leading up to the stabbing. They do believe this is an isolated incident, and that the public is not at risk.

From the information police have gathered so far, they've determined the suspect is a white man in his early 20s. They say he used an edged weapon to stab the victim in his side.

If you know anything about the incident, you're being urged to call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at (530) 542-6100.
