Improvements on Red Rock Road to Begin on Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

From the Regional Transportation Commission:

The RTC will begin pavement preservation work and roadside safety improvements on Red Rock Road from Adobe Road to Argosy Road starting on Tuesday, July 23rd. During the hours between 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Saturday, only one lane of the roadway will be open to allow two-way traffic which will be directed by pilot cars and flaggers to guide motorists in intervals through the construction zone. The pilot car zone will be about two to three miles and traffic delays of twenty to thirty minutes are expected. During non-construction hours, the roadway will be opened with one lane in each direction.

In preparation for the upcoming construction work, traffic control measures will be set up on Monday, July 22nd. This may include minor roadside work that may require shoulder closures and in general, one lane open in each direction. The traffic control being used is needed for the safety of motorists and construction crews and will include reduced travel speeds as motorists are led by the pilot car. Traffic control may be modified periodically during the construction schedule. Notification of these updates will be provided when they occur.

The improvement to this portion of Red Rock Road is funded with fuel tax. The project is anticipated to be completed within a sixty-five day work schedule.
