Pro-Skier, Base Jumper Discusses Recent Norway Adventure

Posted: Updated:

We get a rare glimpse from the eyes of a birdman.

"I was just in Norway with some great friends. It's more fun than can be described."

He grazed boulders, cleared canyons and soared like an eagle.

"Most memorable base jump for me is always the last one I did."

Whether on skis or wearing a wingsuit, Holmes uses care and caution. Each jump a feat of engineering and courage.

He's from Palo Alto, California, but Holmes considers Squaw Valley his stomping ground.

"I've been a pro-skier since I was 17. That's my number one passion and love, skiing Squaw Valley and skiing the world."

But - tragedy struck in 2009. Holmes was in Italy with his best friend, world-renowned athlete Shane McConkey who died during their jump.

Safety has always been their top priority. Holmes is now teaching prevention to young athletes as part of the High Fives Foundation. "When I was younger I was privileged to have great mentors. Now I hope to be one myself."

When a man with Holmes' track record of bravery and brains tells a kid anything's possible they believe it.

Holmes was also in movies Transformers 3 and The Hangover 3. In Transformers, he was one of the men who jumped off a building.
