Upcoming Road Projects on Highway 50, Several CA State Routes

LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 89
(Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe's West Shore that will relocate and replace gas lines, upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in 2016.

State Route 89
(Placer County) from Tallac Street to Timberland Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at two locations around the clock from 11 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County's $31 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian/bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

 

July 14-20
State Route 28
(Placer County) from Fox Street to Chipmunk Street: Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane and right shoulder closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from Deer Street to the junction of Highway 267 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: Work continues on completing a $43 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Boulevard. Landscaping, striping and electrical work is scheduled for summer 2013. Completion is expected in early fall.

U.S. Highway 50
(El Dorado County) from Trout Creek to Ski Run Boulevard: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating #2 lane and shoulder closures from midnight to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: Work continues on a $7.3 project from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue adding curbs, gutters and new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected by 2014.

July 14-20
U.S. Highway 50
(El Dorado County) from Fairway Avenue to Wildwood Avenue: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from 11:30 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: Work has started on a $12.1 million project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters and new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected by 2014.

(El Dorado County) from F Street to the "Y": Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the westbound U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard undercrossing: Westbound motorists can expect ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to install K-rail.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in Placerville: Work continues on a $7.2 million project to construct the U.S. Highway 50 westbound on-ramp from the existing Ray Lawyer Drive overcrossing in the city of Placerville. The project will also construct an auxiliary lane on U.S. 50 to the existing Placerville Drive/Forni Road westbound U.S 50 off-ramp. Completion is expected in September 2013. SHORT-TERM PROJECTS
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the junction of State Route 89 and U.S. Highway 50 (the "Y"): Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do grinding and paving work in the intersection.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 30 Mile Stone to 34 Mile Stone in Kyburz: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do shoulder work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 35 Mile Stone to Wrights Lake Road in Kyburz: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Clarksville Road to the Sacramento County line: Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Drive in Tahoe City to Rampart Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from midnight to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from junction of State Route 49 in Cool to Greenwood Road in Georgetown: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Chili Bar to the junction of State Route 49 in Placerville: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from the junction of State Route 193 in Cool to the North Fork American River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Nashville to Cemetery Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Missouri Street in El Dorado to Patterson Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado/Placer County) from the junction of State Route 193 in Cool to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.

SPECIAL EVENT
The Tough Mudder endurance event takes place at Northstar Resort on Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14. Parking lots for the event will also be used at Alpine Meadows and Boreal on Saturday. Motorists may experience delays on Interstate 80 and State Routes 89 and 267 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and on State 267 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday because of the event. CHP will be conducting traffic control.
