Local students are getting a head start on their dream jobs this summer with a program through the Washoe County School District.
3G Studios is putting on an "Introduction to Computer Programming" class for kids aged 11 to 14.
And some of the students tell us designing and playing video games is a pretty cool way to spend their summer.
"I play other people's video games, and it really inspires me," says McKenna.
Andrew adds, "my dream job is like, a video game designer. I would like to come back next summer and do this again."
3G Studios develops video games here in Reno and this summer they're passing on some of their skills to local kids.
The students are learning basic coding, programming and design. After they learn the basics, they get to make their own games, which they present to the class.
And although it's amazing to think of 11-year-olds doing this kind of programming, the instructors aren't that surprised.
They say these kids are naturals and getting the experience now will really help them get jobs down the road.
"Some of the talent we're seeing here is amazing. We look forward to seeing them in a few years down at our studio, I hope!" says Vice President of Sales Larry Crapo.
There are still a few programming sessions happening this month as well as a whole list of other classes that kids can take this summer.
