All-Star Week Begins With FanFest

Posted: Updated:

One week from tonight, Aces Ballpark will play host to the 2013 Triple A All-Star game.

However, you don't have to wait a week to start joining in on the action.

It all starts with FanFest at the Reno Events Center this Saturday and Sunday, sponsored by Channel 2 News.

"We're going to have a homerun derby field," said Reno Aces Chief Operating Officer Eric Edelstein. "We're going to have places to test your skills. We're going to have different acts of entertainment throughout the days, clinics going on and autograph sessions."

If you are a San Francisco Giants fan or collecting autographs is your hobby, stars like Jack Clark, Rob Nen and J.T. Snow will all be at FanFest to sign autographs.

Monday, it's the homerun derby at Aces Ballpark, featuring the best Triple A all star players from around the country and even a local high school player will test his skills.

Of course, the week culminates with the 2013 All-Star game right here on Wednesday night, which is the only professional baseball game that will be played in the United States that night.

So, if you are feening for some baseball, Reno is the place to be.

"It's a tremendous showcase. It's an event that only comes around once every 30 years. So, it's a once in a generation event. It's not going to come back, no matter how much we try. You go to get out here and experience it this one time."

If you want to check out FanFest this weekend. It's Saturday and Sunday at the Reno Events Center from 10am-6pm.

Tickets to FanFest are $8 for adults, $5 for kids and $20 for the family.
