Firefighters report that the lightning sparked Bison fire burning in Douglas County is 30 percent contained, and has grown to 6,330 acres. On Saturday, fire officials originally reported it as 7,000+ acres, but after a better look at the burn area, they were able to get a more accurate number.

They say heavy winds have fueled the fire, and pushed it to the ridge south of Mount Siegal, east of Gardnerville.

Around 20 structures are currently threatened by the fire, and Pine Nut road and Out-R-Way have both been closed to non-residents.

So far no structures have been damaged  by the fire and no injuries have been reported.
