Washoe County Deputies have arrested a man in connection with a death in Cold Springs earlier this month.

41-year-old Michael Robert Owens Jr. of Cold Springs was arrested Tuesday after being hospitalized since the July 1st incident.

He's charged with murdering one of his roommates 22-year-old Lacee Nicole Shupe and attempting to murder another roommate identified as 39-year-old Joshua Able.

Deputies say Owens attacked Shupe and Able at a home on Crystal Canyon Court.

All three were taken to the hospital where Shupe later passed away. Deputies say the initial cause of death is believed to be sharp force trauma, however, a final determination is pending from the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office.

A fundraiser will be held for Shupe on August 3rd at the International Academy of Style at 2295 Market Street in Reno – next to the Harley Davidson dealership. She was a graduate of the school. Proceeds from the all-day event will benefit Shupe's famiy.
