Artown Honors Singing Legend Frank Sinatra

Posted: Updated:

The 18th annual Artown art festival is now underway. Wednesday afternoon they honored a legend, Frank Sinatra.

The Municipal Band took center stage around noon and rocked Wingfield Park in downtown Reno.

"We're doing all Sinatra charts," said the band's director, Mack McGrannahan. "The leader of this band has an incredible library of Sinatra tunes. We will be playing everything Sinatra used to play when he was playing at the clubs here, like the Harrah's and the old Sahara and stuff like that."

We spoke to Rock Jarzynka, who arrived at Wingfield Park early to hear the Municipal Band. He has been to Artown every night.

We asked him why Artown is so much fun.

"This is what Artown's all about - showcasing local talent. Monday night, you had a local band called Jelly Bread that opened up. Last night, you had a group called Shiloh and here at the park was a Reno dance company. All local talent, this is fantastic."
