All-Star Game Medallions Minted in Carson City

Posted: Updated:

Silver medallions that will be given to players at the 2013 Triple-A All-Star game at Aces Stadium next month were minted in Carson City Friday.

The silver medallions were imprinted on the historic number one press at the Carson Mint.

They were created to give life-long memories to the players in the game.

"Players will be honored by it. It will stay on their mouth pieces for years and when they play many years into the Major Leagues and become Major League superstars, they're going to remember the time they played right here in Reno," says Reno Aces General Manager Rick Parr.

The front side of the coin features the Triple-A All-Star game logo; the back has the historic number one press imprint.

Only 200 medallions were made.

The All-star Game festivities run from July 12th-17th.

The next all-star game won't come to Reno for another three decades.
