Bacon and brews along with live music, watercross championships in Sparks, the Reno Rodeo - and golf! Those are just some of the Things 2 Do this weekend!

Friday, June 28:

Bacon, Bourbon and Brews, Bartley Ranch, 4pm

CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada is hosting Bacon, Bourbon and Brews at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater 4pm-8pm.

Food and drinks will be provided by Gourmelt, Battle Born, Great Basin, The Brewer's Cabinet, Lazy Sundae and Burger Me. Live entertainment will be provided by Clark & Kennedy and Contraband.

General admission advance tickets cost $25, and $35 at the door.

U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team to play Bulgaria, Reno Events Center, 7:30pm

The U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team will play Bulgaria at the Reno Events Center at 7:30pm as part of the FIVB World League. The U.S. goes into Reno with a 3-1 record while Bulgaria is 4-.0 Both teams have players that competed in the 2012 Olympics.

Chautauqua, Galena Creek Regional Park, 7pm

Performers from the Silver State Young Chautauqua will portray historical figures, recite monologues and answer questions as part of Galena Creek's Campfire Fridays summertime series. They'll represent Rosa Parks, Louis Pasteur and John Wayne.

Car Wash/Food Drive to Support The Children's Cabinet's Food Pantry, 11am

The Children's Cabinet is holding a car wash and food drive at the Wilbur D. May Youth Center from 11am-3pm. Cost of the car wash is two canned goods or a $5 donation. Just head to 777 Sinclair Street in Midtown Reno.

Recommended canned goods include: canned tuna, canned soup, granola/protein bars, fruit cups, beans and peanut butter

Lorne Green Auction, Anchor Auctions and Appraisals, 10am

Lorne Green's son is auctioning off some of his famous father's personal belongings to benefit the Lake Tahoe Historical Society.

Bidding starts at 10am at 601 E. Fourth Street in Reno.

Green passed away in September 1987.

Fundraiser to help local man's two children, A&W, Plumb Lane

Mayhem Motorsports Reno will hold a fundraiser at the A&W on Plumb Lane to help raise money for an Educational Trust for Miguel Espinoza's two children. He was recently involved in a motorcycle accident and remains in critical condition. 

 

NOCQUA Night Paddle at Race the Lake of the Sky, El Dorado Beach

Join NOCQUA Adventure Gear for a night paddle and test out the NOCQUA 2000 light system. The paddle starts at 8:30pm and will launch from Lake View commons at El Dorado Beach. Participants can either bring their own board, or borrow one on-site.

Pet Network Humane Society Fur Ball, 5pm Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe

The Pet Network's 15th annual Fur Ball will be held inside the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe's Lakeside Ballroom. Tickets start at $150 each and proceeds benefit the adoption program, rehabilitation efforts, and humane education endeavours.

Washoe County 4-H Horse Show, 8am, Lemmon Valley Horse Arena

The Washoe County 4-H Horse Program and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension present 'Summer ReRuns 2013,' an open horse show and fundraiser for Washoe County 4-H horse club leaders.

Open to all horses, and riders of all ages. The show takes place at the Lemmon Valley Horse Arena, 11400 Deodar Way (at the corner of Alaska and Chestnut) in Lemmon Valley. Registration is at 8am; the show begins at 9am.

Day of show entries are $8 per class, $2 for every change of class and a $5 nonrefundable administrative fee. Proceeds benefit 4-H.

The event is open to the public.

Open House at Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, 10am

Families are invited to attend the City of Reno's Community Open House at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center from 10am-2pm at 1301 Valley Road. The open house will have raffle prizes, musical entertainment, a bounce house, face painting, kid's dance programs, basketball tournament, arts and crafts, swimming and water fitness.

Lazy 5 Farmer's Market, 7:30am

The first Lazy 5 Farmer's Market starts today - and goes through September 14th. Festivities start at 7:30am on Pyramid Highway in the Lazy 5 Park on the grass near the pavilion behind the library and community center. They will offer fresh produce, crafts, local business, meats, some breakfast food and more. A children's activity area will be open from 8:30am-11:30am.

 

U.S. Open of Watercross, Sparks Marina Park

The 8th annual U.S. Open of Watercross hits Sparks this year! Premier watercross classes start at 11am-2pm, which will showcase pro riders in each class. Competitors are from the U.S, Australia, Columbia, Kuwait and Indonesia, just to name a few countries. They will vie for the title of the Sparks U.S. Open of Watercross Champion, and a cash purse of over $12,000.

Second Annual Fandago Gourmet Food Truck Festival, Casino Fandango, noon

The second annual Fandango Gourmet Food Truck Festival will be held at the Casino Fandango in Carson City starting at noon.

Twenty food trucks will attend this year's event including Lazy Sundae, Bodawgs, Divine Bakery, Fat Daddy's Game Day Grill, Traffic Jam, Gourmelt, Nevada Nosh, Slap Yo Mama, St. Lawrence Pizza and Mellow Yellow Food.

New this year is a craft fair. There will also be live entertainment. The event is free and open to all ages.
