Firefighters are investigating what caused a fire to burn down three abandoned homes in north Reno.

The fire started just before 12:45pm Tuesday near Stead Blvd. and Mt. Shasta at an unfinished delveopment.

The homes were relatively new, but development on the rest of the neighborhood stopped during the recession.

Firefighters tells us they've had several incidents in these homes over the years and witnesses say they saw two people leaving the scene after the fire started today.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and firefighters stopped the flames from spreading.

"It's nice that it's been a little bit wet and damp out. We got lucky in that respect, but we're always worried about a brush fire moving from house to house out here," says Batt. Chief Dick Nachtsheim.

Firefighters are still mopping up the scene and tell us investigators will soon determine if this fire was arson or accidental.

If you have any information on these fires, call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. Your call will remain anonymous.
