AlertID Unveils New Features Battling Crime

Posted: Updated:

AlertID works to help people feel safer by providing online crime alerts and information on not just your town, but even your neighborhood. They also are a source for sharing information about earthquakes, fires, weather and just about anything that is trending or happening.

This month, they unveiled three new features in an effort to enhance safety and communication.

Keli Wilson is the founder of AlertID. She said they launched a new format, which allows them to include some new features.

For example, they now have what is called a Live Safely Resource Center.

"We worked with law enforcement agencies, the FBI and the National Crime Prevention Council to compile the nation's most comprehensive, public safety resource."

She said the center includes 28 crime prevention and family safety categories.

There's information on everything from violent crimes to fires, even bullying.

Another feature is the Crime Trend Information Center.

The online center helps you see the national crime trends. You can get data, not only your neighborhood, but areas in other states and find answers to questions like is crime up or down in my neighborhood?

You can also interact with your neighbors, if they are members of AlertID and see what they are saying about the community.

AlertID is also rolling out what they call trending email messages to identify what is of high concern in specific areas.

"For example, earthquakes; we've had 400-500 people talking about one. People are asking, 'hey, did you feel that?' People are talking about, there posting pictures of suspicious vehicles saying watch out for this person, my home was broken into last week."
