Troopers Identify Second Person Killed in Highway 50 Wreck

Posted: Updated:

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers have identified a second person killed in a head-on collision on Highway 50 near Centennial Drive on Sunday.

Troopers say that at 3:28 a.m. a Nissan Ultima, driven by Jason William Cloutier of Carson City, was driving east in the westbound lane of Highway 50, when it collided head-on with a Ford Taurus. As a result of the crash, the Taurus was engulfed in flames. The male driver of the Taurus passed away as a result of the fire.

A female passenger inside the Nissan Ultima also died on scene. She's been identified as 26-year-old Sierra Woodward of Carson City.

Cloutier was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The Washoe County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the driver of the Ford Taurus at this time.

Highway 50 was closed for approximately five hours as troopers investigated the wreck.
NHP believes that alcohol is a factor in this accident.

Troopers are still investigating this crash. Witnesses or anyone with additional information are asked to call Trooper Chris Kelly at (775) 689-4661.
