Carnival Adds Extra Family Fun to Reno Rodeo

Posted: Updated:

While a lot of attention will be on the Reno rodeo arena Friday night, there is plenty of action going on outside it as well.

Organizers have worked hard over the years to turn this into a family-friendly event.

The carnival here is a big attraction for the little ones in the family.

"It's always a good time to bring your kids out in the sunshine and the rides of course are a good attraction. And it's my day off from work, so what a better way to spend the day than at the rodeo," says Reno resident Rebekah Landis.

The carnival started up at 4pm Friday and will be open until midnight.

When we arrived earlier, crews were busy setting up. But later this evening, you can bet it will be packed in here with kids and parents.

Another big draw outside of the arena--are all the vendors in town from around the country.

Many of them have been coming back for years.

They say the people here are all so friendly--and business is always good as well.

"It's well established, it's great for the vendors. And so we thought we'd come down the second year because we had a wonderful time the first," says Oregon vendor Bonnie Gibons.

Reno vendor Bambi Gallio adds, "It's been great. It's been really great working with the rodeo staff. They've been really helpful to us."

Another thing to keep in mind is all the great food down here.

Vendors from around town are set up in the carnival area--so if you get hungry there are plenty of tasty options.
