What a great weekend we have on tap. And what a list of Things 2 Do! Not only is the Wildest Richest Rodeo in the West in town, it's arriving with a huge parade through Reno Saturday morning. You can go on tours of gardens in both Reno and Carson City, recycle your E-Waste for free and get your fill of Barbeque, Brews and Blues downtown. Enjoy!

Reno Rodeo

The 94th Annual Reno Rodeo is in action at the fairgrounds and the action goes all week. This weekend you'll find competitions, carnival rides and good old family fun. For specifics check out their website.


Discover Room at May Museum opens with Trains

The Discover Room at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno is opening its newest exhibit focusing on trains. This is a perfect way to see them in action up close and personal.


Shine: Cuisine, Food and Fashion to Benefit Nevada Humane Society

A one-of-a-kind white dress event at the Beach at the Grand Sierra Resort. It runs from 6pm-9pm and proceeds go to the Nevada Humane Society.

Restoration Rails at Nevada Northern Railway

A new twist on an old train....the Restoration Rails Dinner Steam Train makes its debut this weekend at the East Ely Depot. It's been featured on the TV show Restoration Rails.


E-waste recycling at Grassroots Books

Looking to get rid of a laptop or electronic devices…you can drop them at Grassroots Books in Reno Saturday from 9:30am-4 pm. They are inviting you to bring washers, dryers, computer parts, printers and cell phones. And they are inviting you to stay and meet "Tahoe Rim Train" author Tim Hausserman and the author of "Day and Section Hike Pacific Rim Trail, Wendy Lautner.


Oodles of Noodles 12th annual fundraiser 10-2 in Old Town Dayton

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is putting on its 12th annual Oodles of Noodles Festival. The actual noodle-cooking will be on Saturday form 10am-2pm, but the vendors and the music and the fun is for both Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds benefot Honor Flight Nevada.


8th Annual Water and Rails Pond and Garden Railroad Tour

If magnificent gardens are on your list, you'll want to check out what this group has to offer. Miniature garden railroads, exquisite ponds and water attractions and waterfalls. This is their annual tour show off their hobbies. It's sponsored by the Rail City Garden Center and the proceeds go to benefit ALS research.


Friends of Carson City Library 7pm at the Nugget

Local authors, an elegant evening out and a way to help the Carson Library, all in one place at one time. That's right the Friends of the Carson City Library have invited four local authors (including me!) to present their books, talk with readers and at the end of the evening, lunch or dinner with your favorite author will be auctioned off proceeds going to every author's favorite place….a library!


Reno Rodeo Parade 10 am Downtown Reno

All the cowboys, cowgirls, competition riders, trick riders and cowpokes will be there…at 10am Saturday in downtown Reno. This is the 94th year for the Reno Rodeo and it's expected to be one heck of a Wild West beginning to this year's Wildest, Rich Rodeo in the West.


Carson City Historical Garden Tour noon to 4:30pm

This is the weekend for the top gardeners in Carson City to show off all they've worked on for years. This tour is of a handful of the best in Carson City. It goes from noon to 4 on Saturday.


Blinky Man Blinkin' Bikes on Solstice night Carson City  7:30pm-11:30pm

This is the first year for this event. It's aimed at getting Burners together with their bikes and celebrate the summer Solstice with a nighttime ride through Carson City. It's a mass biking event. Starts at 7:30 pm


Barbeques Brews and Blues in Downtown Reno 18th annual

For 18 years now the Eldorado in Reno has celebrated the beginning of summer with a huge Barbeque. The BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival is their way of ushering in summertime fun. The grills will be going and more than 100 vendors are expected to take part. Forty Micro breweries will be tapping into an array of brews and the concerts are free both Saturday and Sunday.


Making the Grade Skate Contest

It's a chance for local skateboarders to show off their stuff, a chance to win some prizes, including a trip to skate camp, and it's free! The Making the Grade Skate Contest takes place at Mira Loma Park Saturday starting at 10 am.

Special Kids Rodeo:

Reno Rodeo fun will be in high gear this weekend but one of the events a lot of folks look forward to is the Special Kids Rodeo. It's a chance for those up to 18 years of age with disabilities to experience the life of a cowhand. This year's Special Kids Rodeo will be at the Indoor Pavilion at 1:45pm on Sunday!
