Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles Interim Director Troy Dillard has been tapped to lead the department permanently.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced the choice in a press release Wednesday afternoon.

Dillard had been serving as the interim director of the department since November of last year. He previously served as the administrator for the department's Compliance and Enforcement Division.

"Troy has done an exceptional job serving the citizens of Nevada as Interim Director of the DMV," Governor Brian Sandoval said. "Troy is respected throughout the department and worked diligently with legislators during the most recent legislative session.  I am pleased he has agreed to continue to serve our state in this manner."

Dillard has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Science from the University of Nevada Reno and graduated from Mineral County High School.
